Tranmere story

Ian James Griffiths is an English former winger born in Birkenhead. He developed with Tranmere Rovers and began his senior career at Prenton Park in 1978.

After leaving Tranmere, Griffiths represented Rochdale and Port Vale before joining Wigan Athletic in 1985. He later played in Japan for Mazda Hiroshima, returned to Wigan and finished his Football League career with Wrexham. His time in Japan included a regional second-tier title with Mazda Hiroshima, while he was also part of Wrexham’s squad during their run to the 1991 Welsh Cup final.
